ATHEX Cooperation With SEE Link Platform

August 4, 2017

Athens Exchange will cooperate with SEE Link (South East Europe Link) platform for the execution of cross border transactions in the countries of southeast Europe.

The particular cooperation will provide to Members of the Exchanges participating in SEE Link platform the opportunity to execute transactions in the Athens Exchange market. Additionally, the markets of the platform will be accessible via X-Net network.

SEE Link became operational in May 2016 with the support of EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) and constitutes an effort for cooperation among the Exchanges of the southeast Europe. This initiative has been joined by the Exchanges of Sofia, Zagreb, Belgrade, Banja Luka, Ljubljana and Skopje whereas the exchanges of Sarajevo and Podgorica are under way of joining. The main goal is the expansion of the investment alternatives offered to the investors of the participating countries, through cross border transactions, while, in the same time, the markets participating will be able to attract liquidity from the other countries of the region in a more effective way.

The particular cooperation is part of the actions and activities of the Athens Exchange for the attraction of liquidity to its markets, the increase of the choices of the Members and their clients (local and international), the participation in initiatives supported by international organisations like EBRD and last but not least the cooperation with the exchanges of the region in the framework of good fellowship policy. Moreover, this cooperation further uses existing infrastructures, aggregated experience and knowhow.

According to the plan, implementation will start directly with the aim of the aforementioned services to be available in the first quarter of 2018.
